Product Review: Duckett Micro Magic Fishing Rods

The hottest bass fishing rod on the market today is the Duckett MicroMagic Rod. Here we explore the history of Duckett Fishing, the rod construction and reviews by users.

The most popular bass fishing rod on the market today comes from Duckett Fishing, an all new Alabama based company headed up by 2007 Bassmaster Classic Champion Boyd Duckett.

Duckett's company may be new on the rod building scene, but he is no rookie. Duckett was one of the key designers of the Carrot Stix bass fishing rods several years ago. Shortly after winning the 2007 Bassmaster Classic, Duckett joined forces with the Carrot Stix manufacturing company E-21, and promoted the rod for several years. Unfortunately Duckett and E-21 had different opinions on the marketing of the rods and they eventually went their separate ways.

MicroGuidesFollowing his split with E-21, Duckett decided to join forces with Ken Whiting, winner of several ICast "Best of Show" Awards and fellow designer of the Carrot Stix rods several years prior. Together they started developing a rod that uses microguide technology. This was no small feat, because there are lots of hurdles to jump if you’re going to make even a single, customized rod that utilizes microguides. The use of micro guides on rods is not new, as they have been used successfully on lighter weight rods, in both Europe and Asia for more than twenty years. However, the micro guides that have been used in the past, have been designed and developed for lighter applications and won't hold up under the rigors of freshwater tournament use. The Duckett MicroMagic guides do stand the test, and the rods offer features such as ultimate line control, a lighter overall rod weight, a significant increase in casting distance, a substantial improvement in accuracy and yet, and is strong enough to withstand the pressures of freshwater and inshore tournament trails.

"These rods are the best rods i"ve ever held, i'm in the process of changing over to all duckett rods. go ahead and take the risk and buy one you wont be sorry! "This rod is awesome. You can easily throw a 1/2 ounce bait over 100 yards with the right reel. The micro guides really do help. I reccomend this rod to any bass fisherman It is so lightweight and comes with a 20 year warranty" Texasfisherman2 - Bassproshops.com

"I have 3 of these rods . A 7' medium crank bait rod , a 7'6" crank bait rod and a 7'11" ext heavy flipping rod . All of these rods preform excellent ! The crank bait rods give me the casting distance to get my lures into the strike zone for a longer period of time which results for more fish . The flipping rod teamed up with 65# braid has the back bone to snatch the big ones out of the thickest cover . For the price you cant beat the quality of these rods . They are tools of the serious bass fisherman!" Bill (Leesburg, GA) - Tacklewarehouse.com

The Duckett MicroMagic Fishing Rod is the rod of the future, and I highly recommend that any serious fisherman should look into adding one of these rods to their arsenal. You won't be disappointed.
